Nothing is more beautiful than fall in Northern Michigan. That magical time of year when the earth transforms from verdant green to vibrant shades of fall color. Orchard Beach Aviation has been conducting scenic flights over beautiful Lake Michigan for years. The flights have been enjoyed by many wanting to see the fall foliage surrounding Lake Michigan beaches, Manistee and Portage Lake. See amber-hued fields and brilliantly colored forests. There is no better way to experience the colors than from a birds-eye view.
Flights are typically flown over two routes: Downtown Manistee and the Lake Michigan shoreline or the M-22/Portage Lake area. Did you know that Route M-22 which begins just north of the airport was recently named “Best Scenic Autumn Drive” by USA Today’s 10Best readers. Choose either one for $40 per person. Special flight requests are more than welcome and we will be happy to oblige as best we can. Call (231-723-8095) or stop in for more information.
Fall Color flights are conducted all October from the Manistee County Blacker Airport. Whether you want to view the colors on a crisp morning, mid-day, or view the auburn glow at sunset (sunset by reservation) we are here for you. Gift certificates are also available. You can drop in 10am to 5pm most days weather permitting, or call ahead to make a reservation.
We are located off of US-31 about five miles north of Manistee and about 1/2 mile south of the Little River Casino Resort at the Manistee County Blacker Airport:

We were also featured in the Pure Michigan video, “Twenty-two Things to do on M-22.” Watch the video to get a feeling of what the experience is like.
